DCG X VERA DECENA

Vera Decena (Colourfull Nutrition) and Angela Fama collaborated with Robin Kort (Swallow Tail) to offer a free-of-charge evening where good food and heartfelt conversation relating to grief, loss, and nourishment came together. Conversation was gently guided by the three new questions Vera and Angela have come up with relating to grief and nourishment, with additional prompts from the Death Conversation Game.

The food at the table was Filipino, plant-based, and made with love. As a Filipino-Canadian, nutrition counsellor, and the chef for the night, Vera wanted to honour her community and culture through nourishment — especially in the wake of the 2025 Lapu-Lapu Day tragedy that deeply hurt both the Filipino and broader Vancouver community. This meal was an offering; a small act of care and remembrance, served with warmth.
